This is done with special PDR tools like metal rods and hammers, that are used to gently push out the damage from the inside and outside of the panel. These dent removal tools and methods are designed to preserve the original factory paint finish of the car and avoid any additional damage to the surface of the car. Before taking on the dent repair, we need to evaluate the damage and determine the access needed to get behind the dent with the proper PDR tool to push out the dent. Some ways to access the back of the panel would be to remove any interior panel that is in the way. Another common access for the fenders or quarter panels is to remove the headlights or tail lights. The next step in the paintless dent repair process is to position the dent removal light. These lights are designed to be used for dent removal. They have special covers over the led lights that give a particular reflection onto the panel. These PDR lights help to see down into the bottom of a dent and to help show where the PDR tool is on the inside of the car's panels. Now that we have the access needed and have positioned the light to be able to see the dented area, we take the PDR tool and slowly push out the dent. Many small pushes are made to push out the dent. The little minor pushing is done to preserve the paint and to be able to restore the metal back into shape. The next step in the dent repair process is to knock down the high spots, crowns and ridges that stick out from the metal. This is done with special tools with plastic or polished metal tips that don't damage the paint surface. Another tool used is a hammer with particular tips designed to push the metal back down. Most of the dent repairs use this process going back and forth, pushing from the inside of the panel and blending the outside back down, until the panel is smoothed back out. Then any scuffs or scratches that were caused by the original damage are then buffed out with a minor polishing compound and a mini buffing pad attached to a cordless drill. =========================== More info about Paintless Dent Repair: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paintle...
