Vera Blake is a sorceress and adventurer-in-training at Master Drogan's academy in Hilltop. Unluckily for her, tuition comes to an abrupt end thanks to the intervention of a band of marauding kobolds. Abroad, a shadowy figure is manipulating events to their own advantage, and Vera, armed only with her magic, her grumpy animal companion Collin, and a questionable choice of allies are all that stands in the way of an ancient evil.
