"This release is the culmination of a long journey from a cellist fascinated by Bach. Marianne Dumas began her research in 2010. She first investigated the technique, posture, and resonance of the instrument always using the Bach Cello Suites as a reference. In 2014, as she was still looking for more answers in the Suites, Marianne moved to Berlin to work full time on her project. Once in Berlin, she first worked with makers of baroque instruments, had encounters with baroque specialists, she then prepared a new urtext edition of the Suites and recorded it in 2016 in Berlin with the instruments she used for the project. This album, and the corresponding project, is truly groundbreaking."
