Every January we’re inundated with the same rhetoric. ‘New year, new you’ campaigns promise us that we can get thinner, fitter, happier and healthier in four weeks, and that by February we’ll have overhauled our lives and feel like a new person. Yet the campaigns designed to deliver ‘wellness’ are laden with advice that’s negative and judgmental. Punishing gym regimes, restrictive diets and messaging that tells us we need to reinvent ourselves, these 'solutions' never result in the elusive feeling of ‘wellness’ we’re chasing; they leave most of us feeling hollow, miserable, exhausted and hopeless.
