EU Polar Cluster 2022
The EU Polar Cluster is a network of collaborative polar projects, which are funded by the European Commission, and four permanent members: the EPB, EuroGOOS, APECS and SIOS. The Cluster thus merges a broad spectrum of research and coordination activities - ranging from the most up-to-date findings on permafrost and sea ice, from enhancing observation to improving predictions, and from networking research stations to coordinating access to icebreakers.
EU-PolarNet hosted a major Townhall Event in Brussels, themed "Towards the 1.5°C climate goal - Contributions of Polar Research". The objective was to stimulate a dialogue between national policy makers, polar scientists, industries, local communities and civil society to explore how future polar research can contribute to the “1.5°C target” agreed at the Paris COP meeting last year.
