Traditions in families form an important part of our social structure and even contribute to our sense of identity. A tradition I started with my children is "birthday pancakes" where they get a candle in their pancake on their birthday. This tradition has been carried on by my children now that they have children.
Rituals are symbolic acts that generally have some ceremony or routine around them. It could be as simple as your morning coffee ritual, or it could be something like a religious ritual involving prayers and candles.
