My first stand-up comedy special... I hope you enjoy it. I hope you giggle. I appreciate you giving it a gander.
Here's a breakdown of the bits:
00:00 Don’t be David, Be Billy. An examination of cancel culture, and how we let the crybabies control society.
07:54 Sexism in America. Men and women are different in many ways.
09:43 Marriage Equality. I don’t understand homophobia, but it’s still out there.
13:25 Gay Rights. In my mind, that means the right to be made fun of.
14:55 Buying Babies at Walmart. A couple tried selling their baby in California.
16:13 Fat Shaming. You did it, not me.
17:12 Male Friendship. Good friends bust one another’s chops.
18:26 Facebook. It’s the worst social media platform out there… but it can be fun, in a soap opera sorta way.
20:28 Documentary Filmmaker. We all have road rage; I’d like to do something about it.
21:40 Acceptance & Inclusivity. I took my kiddos to Target, and we shared a moment with a woman who had a DUI (or two) on her record.
23:08 I Am Jazz. The widely respected children’s book on trans issues.
28:30 Parenting. We teach our kids, even when we don't realize it.
29:55 Forgiveness. We teach our kids values, but they teach us, as well.
31:37 Teenage Pregnancy. I have a daughter, and I’m doing all I can to keep her safe.
32:59 Potty Training. When my babies were wee ones, transitioning them from diaper-wearing babies to self-bath rooming toddlers was… let’s say, “interesting.”
39:47 Millennial Playgrounds. GenX learned things the hard way. Millennials were taken care of.
44:45 Mothers vs. Fathers. Moms and dads are different. They parent differently, they raise kids in ways that offer different life lessons.
46:58 Teenagers Today. They have issues. I want to help them.
50:08 Marriage. I love my wife, but let’s make fun of her a little bit.
55:15 High School Reunion. If you escape your teenage years, should you revisit them? Also: as we get older, sometimes men need pills that… “enhance” their abilities. Should we be embarrassed by that?
58:12 Perspective. It’s something we could all use, and thankfully, I was able to nab a little of it right in the middle of a moment where I needed it the most.
What have others said about my comedy over the years?

~Mark Klampe, owner, Goonie’s Comedy Club, Rochester, Minnesota.
When one of my doormen has to leave the showroom because he’s laughing so hard, I know I’ve got a good comedian on stage.
~Dave DeCaro, Manager, Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle, Royal Oak MI
“Nathan’s comedy performance was one of the best we’ve ever hosted at JPAC.”
~Nathan Burkart, Executive Director, Janesville Performing Arts Center, Janesville WI

~The Groove Magazine
“timmel blends childhood anecdotes, current events, and combustible social commentary into an entertaining, provocative, and occasionally anarchistic highball.”
~Punchline Magazine
“His always hilarious and relevant material, coupled with a charismatic stage presence, sets nathan apart from the rest of the pack.”

“Observational humor unmercifully directed at contemporary culture and politics.”
~Foreigner’s Forum, Korean Top News
“Nathan’s comedy is witty, educated, and mature. He has a message behind his jokes, and doesn’t just scratch at the shallow surface for a quick shock value laugh. His material has depth at the societal, family, and cultural level that makes you think about the world we’re living in. Nathan’s act is poignant, and the laughs he produces are genuine and well-earned.”
~Brooke Byam, Owner, The V’ue, Clinton, Iowa
“Nathan brought down the house with a blistering set on family values, Gen X, Louis CK, and the importance of gratitude!”
~Kenyon Thorp, Owner, The Ideal Theater, Cedar Rapids, Iowa
“Nathan Timmel brings an original twist to common experiences and thoughts. You’re often caught off-guard when he seems to hit below the belt on various topics. Then, you realize he makes a point as he makes you laugh. He’s refreshingly unpredictable!”
~Samara B. Palubiski, Booker
“Timmel blends childhood anecdotes, current events and combustible social commentary into an entertaining, provocative and occasionally anarchistic highball.”
~LaughSpin
"I find most comedians funny but all seem much the same with a bit of personal touch. Timmel’s show, on the other hand was completely original and one of the most provocative and memorable comedy shows it has been my pleasure to host or to have been in attendance of.”
~Kurt Iseda, Entertainment Coordinator, Fleet Activities Dept. of the Navy, Okinawa
