However, Janine finds out that she is the product of an affair that her father had with a married woman named Consuelo. Janine then blames Consuelo's actions for her miserable childhood.
After finding out that her mother is still alive, Janine sets out to the province to find Consuelo. While there, she meets Jake and develops an unspoken sexual attraction with him.
