As the governing body of the Tyler Independent School District, the Board of Trustees currently meets two times per month. The Board Workshops are held the first Monday of each month at 11 a.m. The Regular Board Meetings are usually held the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m.
The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) for Tyler ISD functions in compliance with the Texas Education Code, Section 28.004. The purpose is to assist the district in ensuring that local community values are reflected in the district’s health education instruction. The specific duties of SHAC include making recommendations related to health education curriculum and hours of instruction, nutrition and fitness education, appropriate methods for instruction of human sexuality (sexual health) and strategies for a coordinated school health and safety program. Meeting are held four times per school year.
