50 years of making it matter
This year, Griffith University turns 50 years old. That's half a century of delivering a transformative education experience to hundreds of thousands of students from around Queensland, Australia and the world. We want to honour all that Griffith is, was and will be, from our origins in the Nathan bush, on the unceded lands of the Yuggera, Turrbal, Yugerabul and Jagera Peoples, and expansion across South East Queensland right through to our future growth into the heart of Meanjin (Brisbane) and beyond. We'll even be publishing a commemorative book to capture this moment in time, where we can pause—only for a moment—to take stock of just how far we've come. https://www.griffith.edu.au/about-gri... ________________________________________________________ Griffith University | CRICOS: 00233E | TEQSA: PRV12076
We believe in the power of purpose. Since 1975, Griffith University has championed values that inspire change. Today, through our ‘Make it matter’ initiative, we continue this legacy by focusing on creating a brighter future for all. In this 30-second video, our students open up about their personal motivations and the meaningful impact they aspire to make in their careers. These are the voices of tomorrow’s leaders, driven by purpose and passion.

When students graduate from Griffith University, they go out into the world not just to make it for themselves—but to make what they do truly matter. From working to save the Great Barrier Reef, to helping Australia go farther in space than ever before, to shaping our communities and society through their contributions to business, law, the arts and beyond, Griffith’s alumni use all they’ve learnt as professionals and people to create change that counts. The University’s Outstanding Alumni Awards recognise and acknowledge the diverse achievements of alumni, across their fields of endeavour and in their communities. https://www.griffith.edu.au/advancement/alumni/alumni-awards

We sat down with some of our First Nations staff to hear about the questions they are asked and to learn about their lived experiences. While these topics may be confronting for some, it's a conversation that needs to happen.
At Griffith University we recognise the critical role that universities play in achieving the sustainable development goals in line with Griffith’s objective to create a brighter future for all. We embed the sustainable development goals in all we do in teaching, research, engagement, and beyond the goals, align with our deeply held values around First People’s recognition, environmental responsibility, diversity and inclusion and social justice. Through this series I’ll explore some of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals with Griffith experts and partners, we’ll examine what each of the goals is about what must be done to address them and how we can learn from the work on these goals already being carried out around the world. - Professor Carolyn Evans, Vice Chancellor and President, Griffith University #sustainable #development #goals #sdg #unitednations #UN
