A Short Overview of the Hazara Genocide
For more than a century, the Hazaras have been subjected to genocide in various ways. At times, official armies were used by monarchs and lords for this purpose. The imprisoned Hazaras would be left to languish in jails before being hanged by the country’s rulers, and their men, women, children, sold as slaves to pay the cost of their own genocide. The Illegal armed groups and warlords have all played a role in this persecution. The religion has been misused to justify the genocide; Hazaras were and continue to be declared infidels and slain as a result of decrees made by so-called religious scholars.
The justifications and methods of genocide may have changed over the years, and perpetrators may have adopted new names and identities, but the reality has not. The mass killings of Hazaras meets the definition of “Genocide” as defined in Article 2 of the UN Genocide Convention of 1948.
The Hazara Genocide has virtually gone unnoticed by the World for over a century. There is a moral, legal, and historical need for documenting the ongoing Hazara Genocide.
The Hazara Genocide Archive is one of Bolaq’s projects that in collaboration with Hazara Organization for Peace and Equality (HOPE) aims to document the ongoing Genocide.
The Genocide Archive project collects Data of the victims that are systematically target killed in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The project builds upon HOPE’s work, currently pinpointing the incident/attack on Google Map, by adding the information in a database.
The Hazara Genocide Archive, accessible at www.hazaragenocide.com, requests all fellow human beings to join hands in our commitment to “never again” as codified under the UN Genocide Convention of 1948, and help bring a stop to the ongoing Hazara Genocide.
